We as IPATA understand that all member companies make their own decisions on the level of services they provide, and some may not provide all levels of services on all shipments. Some shipments may only require local pickup and delivery; some may only require ensuring that the pet meets all requirements while using another company to make the airline booking, etc. But regardless of who does what in a shipment, when we ask each member to provide a letter of reference from an IPATA member with whom they have worked in some way, it has nothing to do with who was hired by the pet owner or who was paid but focuses on the experience in working with the actual member; such things as:
Did they follow through with what they said they would do?
Did they follow instructions well or give clear instructions?
Did they keep the welfare of the pet as a top priority?
Would you be willing to work with them again if the situation arose?
If a payment was required, was it paid accordingly to agreed terms?
According to IATA, the IATA LAR Training Course Certificate is valid for 36 months (3 years) from the date of issue. Future certificates issued by IATA will note the 36 month validity period.

Why I love being a member of IPATA
Once I began shipping pets in 1995, the company I assisted with my first job introduced me to IPATA. It is the best business decision I have made and am still a member for 20 years. It helps our company in many ways including the networking of the fellow members around the world who are always ready to help with questions, suggestions, support and sharing of experiences.
Their Website not only helps consumers looking for help in getting pets to their new home with the wide range of companies available to them, it also helps members with a plethora of detailed information. What I especially enjoy are the annual conferences. They are a chance to learn even more about our industry, and to meet the members who we have up to that point may have only known through phone or email conversations.
To join IPATA, your company is launched into a professional, successful, rich experience that allows for growth, which includes above all safety for the pets at all stages of travel, and to be an ethical company with each client, vendor, airline and pet that we work with.
